1. The Monkey Sessions feat. CarlaGoon

Monkey says: “Ladies and gentlemen: @CarlaGoon, the awesome, fantastic and sensational copywriter and future Queen of Comedy, is the new guest DJ on the sixteenth volume of The Monkey Sessions!”

In a list that she has named “Aunque la mona se vista de seda…”, something like “You can not make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear” for English speakers -you ask her about it-, Carla has compiled great themes of great female voices of pop and rock bands as Camera Obscura, The Breeders, Los Punsetes, BOY, Crystal Fighters and Feist, among many others.

Carla is our favorite copywriter since years ago when, almost a girl, knocked on the door of the studio and offered to work with us. We hired her almost immediately for a project with Vueling and since then she owns the title of Honorable Copywriter at Kings of Mambo. She’s currently working for HerraizSoto&Co, an agency we’ve also collaborated with some time along the years.

Monkey now, says: “Stop talking and grab your headphones, sit back and enjoy The Monkey Sessions volume 16!

  3. The Monkey Sessions #frankfurterapia Special Edition feat. Edu Simonneau + David Ga-Rule

In honor to the #frankfurterapia sessions, created by the unique Edu Simonneau and co-hosted by David Ga-rule, we invited the two of them to participate in this new edition of The Monkey Sessions!

With their collaboration in the selection of songs and the session cover design we have created the most bizarre and extravagant playlist so far for your enjoyment.. All to pay tribute to those moments we share from time to time having lunch together and where we speak of our profession, the projects we are working on, friends we share and dreams that we someday will fulfill.

This awesome playlist includes songs like “Sausage Party” by O Crush, “Döner Kebab” by Plögert Donato, “Uma Thurman me toca la banana” by Los Petersellers and several worldwide hits by artists like Elvis Presley, Siniestro Total, Toni “El Gitano” or Bloodhound Gang, to name a few.

And if you do not know them yet, Edu is an incredible art director who flies free right now (he’s open to new projects!), the biggest fan of Bill Murray and the creator of the #frankfurterapia, one of the best inventions that someone may have had in years. David Ga-rule is an excellent multimedia art director at Evil Love, one of our favorite agencies, and he is also an ebanista!

We hope you like this new edition of The Monkey Sessions and you work up an appetite while listening to this fabulous set of songs. You are invited to the next #frankfurterapia session!

  5. The Monkey Sessions feat. Laszlito Kovacs

The first volume of The Monkey Sessions for 2013 is here and looks like the world is not enough for our guest DJ: the amazing, handsome and international illustratorLaszlito Kovacs!

When we asked Laszlito, he suggested the title “Pulp Sience Fiction” for the list, and our first reaction about it was: what the f**k does that mean? And the second was: who cares? Let’s do it! And so we did: a list full of special themes and rare songs from movie soundtracks and different artists who sing about science, the outter space, the moon, the satellites, the infinite and beyond!

The tracklist for the 13th volume of The Monkey Sessions includes themes from classic movies such as Dune, Moon, Solaris, Star Wars or Moonraker, and also songs by awesome artists like David Bowie, Beck, Arcade Fire, Radiohead or the Flaming Lips, among many others. Songs about science and space, songs that will take you to a journey to the stars and back.

Laszlito Kovacs is one of our favorite international illustrators and as huge fans of his work (if you have the chance, please visit his portfolio right now!), we want to thank him endlessly for being our guest DJ, but even more for the incredible artwork he has created. We feel totally overwhelmed and grateful about this collaboration. Thanks O!

And now it’s time to grab your astronaut suit from the closet and get ready to be sent out into space. Enjoy!

  9. The Monkey Sessions 10.12 featuring Oriol Malet

It’s all about … Jazz! And a new volume of The Monkey Sessions is here to enlighten your day from the hand of a new guest DJ, our friend and favorite illustrator Oriol Malet!

In this new compilation, Oriol has got together a playlist full of jazz tunes played and arranged by the best Catalan musicians. Starting with the most classical and Mediterranean jazz themes, the list goes on through the most modern Catalan jazz scene tracks, incorporating rap, samplers and groove. The list ends with the most vivid and crazy songs to round out an exquisite collection. With artists such as Tete Montoliu, Lluís Vidal Trio, Raynald Colom, Perico Sambeat or Marc Ayza, the list is a declaration of love from Oriol to one of his greatest inspirations: Jazz music.

Oriol Malet is the mind behind Malet & Co, an illustration agency started with his five other siblings which work for clients such as Time Out Barcelona, La Vanguardia, Tria Llibres, Jot Dot Magazine and artists in this very same playlist such as Andreu Zaragoza or Llibert Fortuny. He has also taken care of the huge illustration for this month’s cover.

Whether you are a jazz fan or not, we are sure you will enjoy this new playlist. And if not, we can always quote the great Miles Davis… So what?
